As a key member of the team, the Senior Accountant will own and execute multiple accounting functions within a dynamic, high-growth environment. Reporting to the Director of Revenue, this role will focus on customer and revenue accounting areas, including Accounts Receivable, revenue recognition, and customer contract review, while partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and FP&A to ensure accurate revenue recognition, billing operations, and compliance with accounting standards.
The everyday hustle:
• Partner with Sales, Finance, and Legal to review non-standard contract terms and identify revenue recognition impacts. • Review and interpret customer contracts to determine appropriate revenue treatment, billing terms, and accounting implications. • Execute on the monthly revenue close process, ensuring timely and accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. • Partner with FP&A on revenue forecasting and planning. • Maintain and improve revenue accounting policies, internal controls, and documentation. • Drive month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting. • Prepare additional analysis and insights on an as-needed basis for leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders. • Coordinate annual audits and provide supporting documentation for revenue and receivables. • Identify opportunities to improve processes, automate workflows, and increase operational efficiency within the Order-to-Cash cycle, and take ownership of assigned improvement projects through completion. • Collaborate with Finance leadership on system implementations, process improvements, and scalability initiatives.
Do you have what it takes?
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus • Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience; a mix of public and private is a plus. • Experience operating to tight monthly close and financial reporting deadlines. • Experience working in a SaaS or technology company, preferably within cybersecurity or software. • Proficient in Revenue Accounting for software or other similar and applicable industry. • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative. • Highly self-motivated and objective driven • High level of curiosity and attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and departments internally and externally. • Experience reviewing and interpreting customer orders and/or contracts is a plus. • Proficiency in leading and coaching newer team members is a plus. • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
