About this role
The School of Social Sciences seeks to appoint a research fellow under the theme of “Global China” as a part of Professor Liu Hong’s on-going research programmes.
• The applicant must have a PhD in one of the relevant fields of Chinese studies, political science, ethnic studies, international relations, and global history, or a related field.
• Have good knowledge about contemporary China and its relations with the world, especially in relation to Chinese businesses going abroad at a time of globalization and technological innovation.
• Preferably to have bilingual capacities such as English and a relevant language that can facilitate research activities and publications - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
• Work closely with the PI and his research team on a regularly basis.
• Conduct independent research, develop research proposals, collaborate on projects, and contribute to academic publications on a collaborative basis.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct independent, high-quality research on themes related to Global China, including Chinese studies, international political economy, public policy, and global history.
• Collaborate closely with PI, Professor Liu Hong and the research team to design, develop, and execute research projects.
• Prepare and submit research proposals, grant applications, and progress reports in alignment with the School of Social Sciences’ objectives.
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, and other reputable academic outlets.
• Present research outcomes at international conferences, workshops, and seminars, enhancing NTU’s visibility in the field.
• Mentor junior researchers, research assistants, and graduate students, fostering a collaborative and supportive research environment.
• Support the dissemination of research insights to policymakers, industry stakeholders, and the wider public through policy briefs, public lectures, and outreach activities.
• Uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and professional conduct in all activities.
Job Requirements:
• PhD (for Research Fellow and above equivalent) qualification degree in domain discipline or related field
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Competent in interpersonal skill (e.g. Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills)
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Possesses international experience, with a strong network of contacts in the region.
