About the Role: MSS Security is seeking a casual Security Officer to join our team at the Devonport and Burnie Magistrates Court. This high-profile site plays a pivotal role in the justice system. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of court staff, visitors, and the public.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Maintain a secure environment within the Magistrates Court. • Screen individuals entering the court building and ensure all security protocols are followed. • Monitor and manage courtroom security during hearings. • Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents involving disruptive or aggressive behaviour. • Work collaboratively with court staff and law enforcement to manage high-risk situations.
Ideal candidates will have:
• Previous experience in security or a related field (highly desirable). • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate tense situations. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with the public and clients. • A readiness, confidence and assertiveness to manage challenging situations. • A strong work ethic and commitment to high-quality service. Requirements:
• Full Australian working rights. • Valid Tasmanian Security licence. • Certificate II (or higher) in Security Operations. • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain). • Working With Vulnerable People (or willing to obtain). • Willing to undergo and pass a National Criminal History check.
