About this role

Job summary

Radiology provides services for CT, MRI, US, Nuclear Medicine, Plain film, Interventional Radiology and Fluoroscopy.

The Receptionist role is responsible for attending patient on arrival, making nursing staff aware if needed, checking patient details are correct, dealing with many queries face-to-face and over the phone, liaising with transport for patients plus helping patients with queries they have.

Radiology reception hours are between 8am-8pm on Monday-Friday and 8 am-7 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

You may be asked to work at one of our other sites across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Interpersonal and communication skills

To liaise with wards, clinical staff, GPs and Trust support staff in person, via telephone and email as and when necessary.

To show a caring and professional approach towards patients and visitors when carrying out reception and appointment duties.

Escalate patient queries, capacity problems and general issues to the role's line manager or relevant clinical staff as appropriate.

Planning and coordination

To carry out associated clerical duties, for example maintaining accurate filing systems, receiving post, diary management and scanning patient notes if required.

To keep waiting areas tidy and patient information materials up to date.

To undertake the role's duties in the case of a major incident in your department (E.g. the ED Major Incident Process).

Attend appropriate meetings as required by the role's line manager.

Knowledge and Experience Essential

oClerical/administration experience including reception (E) Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers. Excellent communication via telephone and Face to face Good organisational skills Attention to detail Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy

Skills and Abilities Essential

Desirable

NHS experience PAS experience

Qualifications and Training Essential

oEducated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths (E)
