Job summary
Glenfield Hospital Theatres are recruiting Band 5 nurses, Anaesthetic Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners within our Cardiac Theatre Team!
There is excellent scope for learning and advancement within our theatres and we have our own dedicated Education Team and on the ground clinical skills supervisors, to help you develop and progress in your career.
Experience in Theatres, Anaesthetics or an acute surgical ward is an advantage but not essential and we welcome applications from student ODP's and those returning to practice.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate and provide skilled clinical practise (without direct supervision) to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct.
To contribute to the continued development of Nurses/Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), including the supervision of junior nurses/ODPs and support staff.
Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based clinical care to a group of patients.
Assist and contribute to the management and organisation of a theatre or unit
Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing/ODP care.
Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Person Specification
Training and Qualifications Essential
Registered nurse/qualified ODP Evidence of ongoing professional development Satisfactory attendance records in previous post or throughout training period Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery
Desirable
Degree in nursing or health related subject In possession of or willingness to work towards a recognised NMC/HCPC teaching and assessing qualification Evidence of Post registration Educational Continuing development or reflective portfolio
Experience Essential
Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the grade applied for.
Desirable
Demonstrates knowledge of clinical risk management and clinical governance in the NHS Audit experience / research skills Experience in the speciality applied for.
Analytical and Judgement skills Essential
Good basic understanding of the importance of delivering high quality clinical care Demonstrates understanding of quality and change and the importance of new ways of working Passed by occupational health as fit to undertake role Has the physical ability to perform the full range of duties in the role Recognises own level of competence and limitations Ability to identify learning needs planning.
