About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an Advanced Speech and Language Therapist to join our Community Forensic Services. The is an exciting new post and will provide a service to the East Riding Youth Justice Team as well as the Learning Disability and Autism pathway within the Community Forensic Service for adults.

The post time is split evenly between the services and is supported by an MDT for FCAMHS as well as an MDT within the Community Forensic Team.

We recognise that people with Speech Language and Communication Needs are dis-proportionally represented in the criminal justice system and early support is essential.

You will join a supportive multi-disciplinary team, working closely with partner agencies to support young people and adults with complex needs. You will deliver a trauma informed service and be confident in risk management, with a strong track record of clinical leadership.

The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive induction programme and will receive specialist clinical and professional supervision.

Main duties of the job

o To be accountable in own area of clinical responsibility, ensuring the delivery of evidence based clinical interventions and practice.o Provides an SLT lead in Forensic Community Team and in East Riding Youth Justice Services, utilising related policies, legislation to support evidence-based practice.o Supervises/manages staff/students working in own specialist areao Assess and treats own caseload of patients, individually and/or in groups, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, in a variety of settingso To continue to demonstrate advanced clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re service development and the delivery of care in partnership with patients, relatives, staff, managers, external agencies, within the multi-disciplinary Hub team and across the geographical areao To develop key partnerships, working to ensure effective whole system working, through effective communication and networking with other disciplines and by working across professional boundaries.o To work with Professional Leads to ensure delivery of evidenced based clinical practice; including involvement in research and audit. Undertake research specialist treatment and provide advanced practice.

Experience Essential

Evidence of post-registration professional practice Proven leadership/management experience, able to demonstrate examples of positive impact/change within service delivery/practice at an advanced level
