We currently have a vacancy for a Clinical Development Fellow at ST1/2 level in our Emergency department.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic department. We are looking for enthusiastic, positive individuals with a commitment to improving the care given to our patients.
You will be part of a team of doctors looking after patients on the paediatric ward working alongside the multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Under consultant supervision, provide care for patients in the department with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury.
Refer patients to appropriate in-patient facilities where required and work effectively as part of multidisciplinary teams and meetings.
Teach and supervise junior staff as appropriate and contribute to relevant administration duties, including rota schedules.
Participate actively in audit, clinical governance and the day-to-day management and administration of the department.
Deputise for absent colleagues where this is consistent with the discharge of duties; where this occurs outside normal contracted duties and commitments, equivalent time off duty will be given.
Be available for irregular commitments outside normal reserved duties where essential for continuity of patient care, including public holidays as required by the rota with time off in lieu.
Take responsibility for your own continuing professional education in accordance with the appropriate college, faculty or professional body guidance.
The post is based at King's Mill Hospital but may include activity at Newark Hospital if required.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Full registration and licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC). MBBS or equivalent.
Desirable
MRCP or equivalent.
Experience Essential
More than two years' post-qualification experience. Current experience of working within the NHS. Appropriate experience and competencies requisite to all aspects of the job description.
Desirable
Experience working in a District General Hospital or equivalent.
Audit and Research Essential
Understanding of the principles of audit and research.
Desirable
Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Teaching Essential
A demonstrable interest in teaching.
Desirable
Evidence of teaching medical students, nursing or paramedical staff.
Other Essential
Communication skills, including language competency and communication skills necessary to do the job safely and competently. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies. Caring attitude to patients.
