Are you a qualified CBT Psychotherapist? Would you like to develop your skills to work with people with Disordered Eating?
We are delighted to invite applications for a full-time Cognitive Behavioural therapist to work with people who have disordered eating but who may not meet the criteria for specialist Eating Disorder services. Applicants may already be trained in CBT-ED, or they may have a general CBT qualification (plus BABCP accreditation) and have an interest in this area. There will be an opportunity to apply for the 1-year top up training via the University of Sheffield CBT -Eating disorders training programme and the successful applicant will be given protected time to undertake this course of study. In addition, they will join the CONNECT Specialist Eating Disorder Service on placement to gain experience of working with more complex Eating Disorders.
The training course begins in January 2027.
Main duties of the job
Joining the service as a CBT psychotherapist working directly with service users and supporting the work of the wider Primary Care Mental Health Service, through training consultation and supervision. The aim of the service is to provide a flexible and creative therapeutic offer, tailored to individual need and complex needs. A particular priority is to address health inequalities and ensure equitable access to psychological support and interventions.
Undergoing the training, you will be supported to develop CBT-ED competencies within the workplace in conjunction with the academic support offered by the course team. Benefitting from clinical supervision on the course and in the workplace, with opportunities for peer support. You will have time for study and assignments built into the job plan.
Joining two other professionals providing a specialist disordered eating pathway within the Primary Care Therapies team. Our team sits between NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression (formerly IAPT) and community mental health teams and supports the work of the multidisciplinary teams in primary and secondary care. In addition to work with disordered eating, the post holder will provide assessment and therapy for people other complex mental health issues, particularly complex trauma. The post holder will provide advice, consultation and supervision to colleagues in the wider mental health service to support their knowledge and skills in working with this patient group.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Postgraduate Diploma qualification in Cognitive and/or Behavioural Psychotherapy AND Accreditation with BABCP as a CBT therapist AND with either a prior core profession or via KSA route Post-qualification experience in CBT with a range of mental health difficulties and the ability to work therapeutically with people who have complex needs, including complex trauma.
Experience Essential
An interest and experience of working with people with disordered eating.
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of the application of CBT and related therapeutic approaches to people with complex mental health needs, including the management of risk. An ability to share this knowledge with colleagues from other professional backgrounds.
