About this role

Job summary

Please note - this role is Remote Working with travel required across units in the North East on a weekly basis to deliver training and supervision and occasional travel to head office when required for meetings and training.

We are looking for a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse or Midwife to provide safeguarding support across BPAS in all areas of safeguarding. This includes advice and support to staff, training delivery, assurance for commissioners and liaison with external agencies.

As a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse or Midwife, you will be supporting the development, regional implementation & monitoring of BPAS safeguarding strategy, policy, and procedures.

This is an important and special role in a unique area of reproductive healthcare. This role involves working 37.5 hours per week, over Monday to Friday. Homebased with regular travel to all BPAS North East locations on a weekly basis.

This role is on a 12 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

About You

You will be a registered adult nurse or midwife who is safeguarding level 3 qualified and has demonstrable experience of providing expert advice and engaging colleagues in a positive way. You will have knowledge of relevant safeguarding legislation and practices. IT literate, you will be adept at developing policies, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion. By keeping calm under pressure, you will be able to work through multiple priorities at the same time.

Main duties of the job

Support managers to instil a culture within BPAS that has safeguarding at its core. Support the Lead Nurse in advising the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) on BPAS responsibilities around safeguarding Act as first point of contact for BPAS staff seeking information and advice on clients with safeguarding/vulnerability concerns Develop and maintain a central log of all safeguarding queries/requests for support or advice Provide expert level of knowledge, leadership and professional advice in relation to safeguarding children and adults across BPAS Provide expert safeguarding representation at meetings or committees as required Supporting staff in attendance at safeguarding case reviews if needed Support the investigation of serious incidents relating to safeguarding, and external Serious Case Reviews Support Treatment Unit Managers to liaise with Local Safeguarding BoardsWe are also looking for:

Salary £45,854 to £56,570 per annum dependent on skills and experience

Contract 12 months FTC covering Maternity Leave

Hours per week 37.5 hours per week to be worked over Monday to Friday - 09:00 to 17:00

Location Remote Working with travel required across the North East region to deliver training and supervision on a regular basis and occasional travel to head office when required.

The units you will need to visit include:

Doncaster, York, Leeds, Bradford, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, South Shields, Nottingham

There will also be some national travel expected on a less regular basis.

Registered Adult Nurse level 1 / Registered Midwife (practising) Educated to level 3 in safeguarding Active NMC registration and valid PIN
