Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working from both Evelina London Community children sites and in collaboration with colleagues at the Evelina London Children's Hospital.
To provide a high standard of occupational therapy service to a caseload of children aged 0-19 years of age within the community. This caseload consists of children with a wide range of developmental difficulties and/or disabilities, and /or complex or multiple pathologies.

To provide an advanced standard of occupational therapy assessment, treatment, management and advice to paediatric patients aged 0-19, their families and carers within the community setting. The caseload consists of children with a wide range of development difficulties and/or disabilities, many of whom may have very complex or multiple pathologies. To work as a lone practitioner, unsupervised, and at times in conjunction with less senior team colleagues across a variety of locations within the community including patients homes, early years settings, schools and clinics to meet the needs of the individual child.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications Essential
State registered Occupational Therapist (Health and Care Professions Council) Recognised training course for an Occupational therapist (e.g. PGDip or degree). Continued Professional Development Portfolio including evidence of reflective practice, in-service training, courses attended and clinical experience gained.
Desirable
Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapy Member of Children's and Young Person special interest group Post registration training in neurology and/ or paediatrics, counselling. Knowledge of paediatric equipment. Post graduate training in SI, AMPS and other relevant courses.
Skills Essential
Able to organise and manage own caseload. Able to work without direct supervision Able to present information, written and orally, in a clear and logical manner. Able to set collaborative goals with client's and families. Have an awareness or understanding of Safeguarding and child protection Have a basic understanding of clinical governance and the implications for occupational therapy. Able to travel across a range of community settings with equipment and mobile devices Have an understanding of SEND legislation
Desirable
Able to assess children. Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession Able to assess neurological conditions. Experience of clinical audit. Experience of research or project work. Involvement in service innovation/development. Able to drive a car in the community setting.
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Minimum of 12 months post registration experience. Working knowledge of the implementation of OT models of practice. Experience of multidisciplinary team working and multi-agency working. Have knowledge of typical child development.
Desirable
Post registration experience of paediatrics. Post registration experience of neurology cases. Experience of managing occupational therapy support staff. Work/Voluntary experience with children with disability.
Personal Qualities Essential
Ability to cope with stressful situations. Able to work closely with team members. Be responsive to change and ideas- adapt to new systems, flexible working patterns. Ability to work from home when required.
