This is a great opportunity to work within our inpatient mental health psychology service alongside psychologists, psychiatrists, resident doctors, OTs, nurses, social workers and physiotherapists.
Our innovative Adult Mental Health acute wards comprise two Admission & Treatment wards and a Recovery ward. Our inpatient pathways are based on a model that admissions should be Necessary, Values Based and Appropriate, and aim to work closely with the community services to facilitate discharge.
The post-holder will provide support to adults with a mental health diagnosis. Therapy will be provided as part of the MDT approach, ensuring a personalised, client-centred focus on individual goals and functional outcomes. There will also be opportunities to work indirectly supporting the wider team to think and work psychologically.
The post-holder will deliver different forms of psychological interventions in either an individual or group setting. The post-holder will be based at Fulbourn Hospital in Cambridge.
Main duties of the job
Working under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, you will support the delivery of psychological services across acute adult inpatient wards. Responsibilities include contributing to psychological assessments, supporting formulation work, facilitating psychoeducational and psychologically informed groups, and delivering brief evidence-based interventions such as Behavioural Activation, Anxiety Management and Distress Tolerance.
You will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery, assist with cognitive screening assessments, maintain psychology referral and outcome databases, monitor patient progress and contribute to psychologically informed care planning. The role requires excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to engage sensitively with individuals experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient and proactive individual with a Psychology degree conferring Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society, a strong interest in adult mental health, and a commitment to developing clinical skills within a supportive inpatient psychology service. Experience of working in mental health or healthcare settings, facilitating groups and applying psychological theory to practice would be advantageous.

Clinical
To provide a direct service using psychological intervention and assessment tools, under supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.
To support the Clinical Psychologists in preparation of team formulation sessions, i.e. completing file reviews and dissemination of formulation.
Tofacilitategroup work, including psychoeducation, CBT. DBT and ACT informed sessions. This may include co-facilitating groups alongside other members of the MDT.
Tofacilitateindividual psychological work, under the supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications Essential
An upper second-class honours degree in psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
Desirable
A Master's degree and/or enrolled in a Master's course recognised by the British Psychological Society.
Experience Essential
Experience of working with adults with mental health difficulties. Experience of delivering psychologically informed groups. Practical working knowledge of at least one relevant psychological approach e.g. CBT.
