Job summary

A Band 4 Support Time Recovery Worker position has arisen in the team and we are looking for a special individual to help with driving the supporting element of the service.

In addition to a DBS check, a police vetting check is required for this post. This is completed by Cambridgeshire Constabulary and is a thorough background and security screening which includes checks on Criminal Record and History, Financial Status, Personal Associations, Digital footprint and Residency.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a part of a team that delivers support and services to individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system.

The post holder is primarily required to work in the community undertaking short term pieces of work with individuals referred to them by senior L&DS Practitioners.

The post holder is expected to support individuals attend first appointments for assessments by other services such as drug and alcohol services, community mental health teams, autism services, Housing, etc, referrals and social support.

Job description Job responsibilities

1. To work with vulnerable children, young people and adults who have been in contact with the youth and criminal justice systems. The Liaison and Diversion Service supports these clients to access support and treatment on a range of vulnerabilities and divert them away from the youth and criminal justice services where appropriate. The service also provides information and advice to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate outcomes within the youth and criminal justice system together with maximising the opportunity to reduce reoffending.

2. Qualified practitioners will undertake screening and specialist assessments of vulnerable people in the court and police custody setting across Cambridgeshire. The support workers role will give practical support to clients to meet a range of short-term objectives. The support worker will undertake lone working in the community under the supervision of the Liaison and Diversion Practitioners on shift.

3. Examples of practical support in this role will be assisting a client to register with a GP or supporting a client with a first appointment to a referred partner agency.

4. The post holder will work as a part of a team that delivers support and services to individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system. 5. To increase access to and uptake up of healthcare and relevant services for people involved in the criminal justice system.

6. To reduce health inequalities for those involved in the criminal justice process.

7. To facilitate engagement and liaise with community healthcare and / or other services and enable delivery of a coordinated response.

8. To provide advocacy, practical support and to act as a voice for individuals who struggle to engage

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Person Specification

Education/Qualifications Essential

To have NVQ Level 3 and/or care certificate in care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards this.

Desirable

Certificate in Mental Health Awards Framework, level 2, NVQ II or equivalent. Knowledge of current Mental Health Act Knowledge of benefit and employment services NVQ 1, 2 or 3 in health or social care or equivalent.

Experience Essential

Experience of working with the public Previous experience working with service users who may have mental health difficulties, intellectual disabilities, autism, speech and language and communication needs, ADHD, acquired brain injury, personality disorder/trauma, and who may alcohol and substances as a way of coping Receptive to and able to use supervision appropriately Experience of the principles of recovery, person-centred planning, and safeguarding To understand mental health, learning disability, children and young people and substance misuse. Experience in a relevant care setting.

Experience of working with people within the Youth and Criminal Justice systems

Able to work occasional evenings and weekends subject to service demand. Post will be subject to police vetting Ability to travel independently around the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area meeting required timescales. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
