About this role

Job summary

We are seeking a new member of the team to provide an efficient, professional and patient-focused administrative service to support the smooth running of the GP Practice. The post holder will work flexibly across general administration, reception and prescription administration, providing a comprehensive non-clinical service to patients and the Practice team.

Main duties of the job

Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with Practice procedures. Check and prepare prescription requests for clinician authorisation. Deal with routine prescription queries and liaise with pharmacies where appropriate. Maintain accurate prescription records and monitor outstanding requests. Escalate medication queries or concerns requiring clinical judgement to an appropriate clinician. Administration

Provide general administrative support to the Practice and clinical team. Process correspondence, documents, scanning and electronic records. Maintain accurate patient records and update demographic information. Undertake data entry, searches, audits and other administrative tasks. Assist with patient registrations and other Practice processes. Manage incoming and outgoing post and electronic communications. Provide administrative cover and support colleagues as required.Reception

Deal with patient enquiries face-to-face, by telephone and electronically. Book, cancel and rearrange appointments in accordance with Practice procedures. Register patients and maintain accurate patient information. Signpost patients to appropriate services within Practice guidelines. Deal professionally with challenging or sensitive situations. Signpost patients to appropriate services within Practice guidelines. Deal professionally with challenging or sensitive situations. Recognise and escalate urgent or clinical matters appropriately. General Responsibilities

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR, NHS Information Governance and Practice policies. Follow safeguarding, health and safety and infection prevention procedures. Work effectively as part of the wider Practice team. Maintain a high standard of accuracy, professionalism and patient service. Participate in training, appraisal and Practice development activities. Person Specification

Experience Essential

- Previous administrative, reception or customer service experience. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Good IT and keyboard skills. - Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage competing priorities. - Ability to maintain confidentiality. - Professional, approachable and patient-focused manner. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Flexible approach and willingness to undertake a variety of duties. - Understanding of the boundaries of a non-clinical role. - Willingness to undertake relevant NHS/Practice training.

Desirable

- Previous experience within an NHS GP Practice. - Experience of EMIS/PACO Blinx - Experience of prescription administration. - Knowledge of NHS primary care services.
