Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen as Riddings Family Health Centre is looking for an experienced GP Assistant to join our friendly practice team for 18 hours per week. Our ideal candidate will already have experience as a GP Assistant and will possess the GPA qualification.
The practice has approximately 3,700 patients and our patient list size is growing rapidly. We are high achievers for QOF and other patient related and contract related targets.
We are one of 6 practices who form part of South Trafford PCN and we work with the other 5 practices who provide shared services to our PCN population.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include providing both Clinical and Administrative support to the GPs and wider practice staff. A fuller, but not exhaustive list of duties can be found in the Job Description.

The post-holder is a GPA GP Assistant
The GPA will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties both Clinical and Clerical and will be a General Practice Assistant in possession of a GPA qualification.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Phlebotomy
Health Promotion Advice including but not limited to Smoking and Alcohol
BP and Urine Tests and advise patients accordingly
ECGs
Height, Weight, BMI
Removal of Sutures
Patient screening following protocols
Administration of certain vaccinations and immunisations that you have been assessed as competent to administer and following practice protocols such as Influenza, Pneumococcal, Shingles and B12 injections.
Undertake NHS Health checks and report back to the Practice Nurse and GPs
Provide clinical support for GPs
Dealing with Docman and actioning tasks, including some coding
Chaperoning
Arrange appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments
Assisting GPs to liaise with outside agencies
Assisting GPs with Minor Surgery
Explaining some treatment procedures to patients
Order medical supplies, vaccinations and stock
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms for GP to approve and sign such as Insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency, Universal Credit forms, PIP forms.
Support with call and re-call processes for National Screening Programmes
Entering information into patients records remembering to redact sensitive information where appropriate.
Support GP with immunisations and wound care.
Assist with Audits

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GP Assistant Qualification Qualified in Phlebotomy GCSE grades A-C in English and Maths
Desirable
NVQ Level qualification to Level 3 or 4.
Experience Essential
Experience of working in General Practice as either a Healthcare Assistant or GP Assistant (HCA or GPA) with Care Certificate and GP Assistant qualification.
