Divisional Overview: The Risk Management Division encompasses the firm's comprehensive risk framework responsible for determining and managing the overall risk appetite for the firm. The division is responsible for effectively managing the firm's risk-return profile, which ensures the efficient deployment of the firm's capital. It is one of the firm's core competencies and is independent of the trading areas and operational areas. Business Overview: Global Risk Head Quarters team works closely with the senior management of Nomura, preparing senior management committee packs, supporting central governance frameworks and assisting with other ad-hoc reports. The Global Risk HQ Reporting team liaises with other functions within Nomura, including Risk functions, Treasury & Finance, New Business, etc. across all the regions to provide a comprehensive picture of the risks Nomura faces. This role within the GRHQ team is focused on strengthening the data foundation that supports sound risk management and future innovation across Nomura Group. This team is responsible for enhancing data quality and strengthening the data management framework for data used in risk measures, including market risk, credit risk, and other risk areas within the Risk Management division. This team acts as the bridge between Risk Management and the firmwide data management team to ensure compliance with BCBS 239 and other regional regulatory expectations. Position Specifications: Corporate Title Associate Functional Title Associate/Senior Associate Experience 6-8 years Qualification Graduate or Post-Graduate / MBA from a reputed institute Requisition No. 14695 Role & Responsibilities: This role plays a pivotal role in the build-out and execution of the data management framework in Risk Management ensuring compliance with BCBS 239 by working with SMEs across various risk stripes such as Credit Risk, Market Risk, Stress Testing, Risk Methodology, Model Risk Driving data governance activities based on policies and standards, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and managing issues and remediation actions. Contribute to the enhancement and monitoring of the key indicators related to compliance of the firmwide data management standards and procedures. Escalating data quality exceptions, supporting root-cause analysis, and driving recurrence prevention measures by working with Risk SMEs, Technology, Data Office and Change Management teams. Preparing governance MI, dashboards and reporting for senior stakeholders both within and outside Risk Management Participating in form-wide data governance related forums and cascading relevant discussions and requirements within the division. Monitoring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of risk-related reporting and related data processes Tracking the resolution of data quality issues through various stages and keeping the inventory of it updated which can then be presented to senior management within and outside the division on a periodic basis Undertake reviews of end-to-end data handshakes (including any manual touchpoints) for key processes critical for regulatory submissions or senior management decision-making and recommend mitigating actions for any gaps This role requires interaction with various stakeholders across the firm To maintain proper documentation of all the processes including any regulatory assignments and attestations Demonstrates technical acumen that enables the professional to advise on significant decisions related to adoption of new tools/products Performs other duties and tasks as assigned Can operate with a limited level of direct supervision Help with other ad-hoc GRHQ activities as the need arises Mind Set: Mandatory Desired Domain Should have an understanding of the Risk domain and financial markets. Should have analytical bend of mind Should be proactive in collaborating with multiple stakeholders including senior management. Should be strong in attention to details. Good spoken and written communication skills and flexibility / adaptability required. Prior experience in Data Management or Data Governance. Experience or knowledge in risk management data or accounting-related data, such as exposure, risk measurement, and reporting, in areas including market risk, credit risk, operational risk, or related domains Technical Should have strong excel and presentation skills.
