The Opportunity As the Accountant , you will have the opportunity to: Be responsible for the accurate and timely processing, review, and administration of employee timesheets and expense reports Ensure compliance with company & Federal policies, weekly deadlines, and regulatory standards while providing high-quality customer service to employees, managers, and business stakeholders. Serve as a key liaison between employees, managers, Payroll, Project Accounting, and Finance to ensure labor and expense transactions are correctly recorded, approved, and processed. Our primary areas of focus include: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) and Classified Design Services, Construction Designer of Record (DOR) Services, Environmental Services, and Integrated (multi subcontract) Services. Typical client base includes Department of Defense (DOD), United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) and many private companies in the Federal arena where Black & Veatch frequently teams for project execution in joint venture (JV) roles or utilizes a sub/prime contracting arrangement. Key Responsibilities Timekeeping Administration/Processing Review and audit weekly Federal employee timesheets for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company & Federal policies Monitor timesheet submission and approval deadlines and follow up on outstanding items Investigate and resolve timesheet discrepancies & missing entries Process weekly timesheets for Federal professionals Assist employees with timekeeping system questions and corrections Maintain records of timesheet adjustments and approvals Serve as a primary point of contact for timekeeping-related inquiries Expense Report Administration/Processing Review of Federal employee expense reports for policy compliance, proper documentation, and approval requirements Return reports requiring correction and clearly communicate needed revisions to employees Monitor aged expense reports and follow up with employees and approvers as necessary Assist employees with expense reporting system questions and policy interpretation Process weekly expense reports for Federal professionals Support month-end expense accrual and reporting activities Interact regularly with Federal professionals, travelers, management, compliance and travel departments Serve as a primary point of contact for expense report-related inquiries Other Tasks Assist with development and implementation of system enhancements Support continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvement Communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders at all levels Preferred Qualifications Government Engineering or Construction Industry experience Government Compliance and Regulations experience Organizational skills Attention to detail & accuracy Written and verbal communications skills Planning Action-oriented Peer relationships Problem solving Microsoft Office Suite, basic Microsoft Excel, intermediate Knowledge of Black & Veatch systems (basic) Basic technical accounting knowledge Basic knowledge of Financial Statement analysis Basic knowledge of foreign currency terminology and concepts Assigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
