JH Volleyball Assistant Position Summary: The Junior High Volleyball Coach is responsible for teaching and developing student-athletes in the fundamentals, concepts, and strategies of volleyball while helping create a positive, competitive and supportive team environment. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable, active, and engaged teacher of the game who understands that junior high athletics are an opportunity to develop both athletes and young people. Essential Responsibilities
• Assist the head coach with planning and leading organized, purposeful,energetic, and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Teach volleyball fundamentals, concepts, strategy, teamwork, and game awareness
• Provide meaningful instruction, encouragement and feedback
• Support the development of athletes with varying skill levels and experience
• Follow all school, conference, and activity department policies and expectations
Coaching Philosophy The successful candidate will support the development of student-athletes in four key areas: CONFIDENCE: Helping athletes believe in themselves, learn from mistakes, and embrace challenges. COMPETENCE: Teaching athletes to understand the game and continually improve their skills and decision making.
