Title: Math Teacher Work Unit/Location: Secondary Sites Reports to: Site Principal Supervises: Students

Contract Length: 163 days 4-day week Pay Schedule: Per approved salary schedule Overtime Status: Exempt

Hours: 7:16 am – 3:45 pm Union Status: Union Licensure: NMPED Teaching Licensure

POSITION SUMMARY Provide rigorous, engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes academic achievement, critical thinking, and college, career, military, and life readiness. Establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and success. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with New Mexico standards and district curriculum.

• Develop engaging lessons that promote critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity, and problem-solving.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

• Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.

• Assess student learning, monitor progress, and use data to inform instruction.

• Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records.

• Support graduation, college, career, and postsecondary readiness.

• Participate in MLSS, SAT, IEP, 504, PLC, and other student support or professional meetings as assigned.

• Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators.

• Collaborate with school staff to support student achievement and school improvement.

• Maintain professional competence and comply with district policies, NMPED requirements, FERPA, and applicable laws.

• Attend required meetings, professional development, and school functions.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid NMPED Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement(s) for the assigned content area and grade level.

• Proper certification/endorsement for all assigned subject areas.

• Knowledge of secondary instructional practices, curriculum, assessment, classroom management, and adolescent development.

• Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

• Strong communication, collaboration, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

• Bilingual endorsement preferred or required based on assignment.

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT Employment terms and salary are established annually through the district employment contract, school calendar, and approved salary schedule. Española Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
