Work Year: September 2026 - June 2027 (Contingent on Grant Funding) Effective Date of Employment: September 2, 2026 Salary: HPS Employee Hourly Rate DESE Certified minimum $46 per hour, Non-DESE Certified minimum $36 per hour Organizational Relationship Or Line of Authority: After School Program Director or Director of Health and Nursing Services Statement of Duties:
• Provide emergency care and first aid in cases of injury and sudden illness as documented in Haverhill Public Schools medical directives.
• Maintain health records and document pertinent information.
• Review medical records for students attending Discovery Club (grades 1-8)/Access 21 (grades 9-12) and any other extracurricular programming.
• Notify parents of illnesses and accidents which occur during club hours and fill out appropriate accident forms.
• Distribute/administer medications as necessary.
• Inform teachers and staff regarding medical issues that may affect their students.
• Communicate with the After School Nurse Coordinator about the schedule and any other after school health concerns.
• Possibility for before school coverage depending on programming and student needs.
• Train afterschool staff and coaches on medication administration as deemed necessary adn appropriate.
• Responsible for other duties as indicated by directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designees, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of two years full time or equivalent part time paid experience as a registered nurse in a recognized public school or public health agency is preferred.
• Registration as a nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in nursing is required.
• Knowledge of present-day public health nursing practice including its underlying principles and techniques.
• Experience in Access 21 or Discovery Club preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
