About this role

Hours: 10 hours per week x 35 weeks Bargaining Unit: This position is part of the non-supervisory support services bargaining unit. Note: This position is contingent upon continued grant funding FLSA: Nonexempt Position Type: Contractual, Part-Time Compensation: Lead Teacher Stipend ($40.40 per hour) Reports To: Multi-Site Program Coordinator Position Overview The Judy Center Early Learning Hub is seeking a dynamic Lead Teacher to drive family engagement initiatives and interactive early learning programming across Beaver Run Elementary and Charles H. Chipman Elementary. Working closely alongside the Site Coordinator and Family Service Coordinator, and offering key support to the Multi-Site Coordinator, this role focuses on strengthening the bridge between home and school through engaging family events, workshops, and play-based activities. Key Responsibilities: Family Engagement & Community Events

• Design and lead interactive family workshops centered on school readiness, positive home routines, and supporting early learning outside the classroom.

• Organize and facilitate hands-on adult-child interactive events, such as family story times, creative make-and-take learning stations, and educational play sessions.

• Build trusting, inclusive relationships with parents and caregivers to boost family participation and build strong home-school partnerships across both school communities.

• Gather family feedback and share practical insights with the leadership team to continuously improve program engagement and event flow

Playgroup & Early Childhood Support

• Co-plan and execute interactive, developmentally appropriate playgroups alongside the Family Service Coordinator, promoting early literacy, numeracy, and play-based skill building for young children and their caregivers.

• Ensure all family engagement activities and playgroup materials align with the Maryland Early Learning Standards.

Team Collaboration & Program Support

• Work collaboratively with the Site Coordinator and Family Service Coordinator to execute seamless family programming.

• Assist the Multi-Site Coordinator with office support, event coordination, family outreach logistics, and program tracking.

• Manage event setup, activity preparation, and coordination split across Beaver Run and Charles H. Chipman Elementary schools.

Qualifications & Requirements Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree required - in Education or Human Services preferred.

• Proven experience working with diverse families and young children, particularly in underserved communities.

• Knowledge of early childhood development and evidence-based family support practices.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse populations.

• Ability to coordinate and facilitate family engagement activities.

• Familiarity with research- or evidence-based early childhood curricula.

• Competency in documenting activities and maintaining accurate records.

• Multi-language skills preferred.

Other Requirements:

• Flexible schedule, including availability for evening and weekend events.

• Reliable transportation for travel to homes, events, and partner sites.

• Background check clearance as required by the school district

Working Conditions: This position involves both office-based work and field-based outreach, including visits to schools, and community sites. Flexibility and adaptability are essential to meet family and programming needs. Capable of conducting training sessions and workshops, which may involve standing for extended periods.
