About this role
The Halifax Elementary School (HES) is seeking qualified candidates for a Long Term Substitute special education teacher position expected to last from Late November 2026 through the end of February 2027. This special education teaching position is for a candidate who will:
• work with students who have documented disabilities and require specially designed instruction.
• support students through academic, social and behavioral skills.
• be responsible for evaluating students, writing IEPs and Progress Reports and attending IEP Meetings.
• work in 3rd grade as well as other grades as needed.
A successful candidate should:
• be licensed to teach Special Education and elementary school.
• collaborate effectively with other staff members.
• be willing to take part in professional development and attend faculty meetings.
• communicate with families.
• seamlessly transition to the role in the absence of the primary educator.
• have experience with Responsive Classroom, OG, Wonders and HMH preferred.
Compensation is a daily rate of $324.02 beginning on day 1.
