• Hold current Certified Driver's License (CDL) or willing to obtain
• Pass a physical from a certified practitioner and cleared background check
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operate the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
• Maintain bus safety in all aspects at all times
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and special equipment
• Report any student behavior problems to the director or school principal
• Maintain a clean, sanitary bus
• Attend all mandatory in-service training programs
• Operate the bus route on assigned schedule
• Report any bus repairs needed to the director
• Do not operate a cell phone or device on the bus
• Discharge students only at authorized stops.
• Will not leave bus while motor is running and will effectively set brake when bus is stopped
• Maintain current seating charts, bus roster, route and bus stop maps
• Communicate with students and parents as needed regarding routes
• Abide by all federal and state traffic laws
• Report all accidents and complete required reports
• Show respect for confidentiality
• Require caution at railroad crossings
• Prohibit unauthorized material on the vehicle
• Willingness to substitue other routes and drive for field trips
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication and timely responses.
• Submit all data and information as requested.
• Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and district administrators.
• Complete requested paperwork.
• Be proficient with and have the ability to adapt to basic workplace technology
• Prioritize safety by, among other things, ensuring that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
• Maintain awareness and understanding of the district's crisis management plan.
• Model a high standard of professional excellence in the school, community, and on social media.
• Maintain a positive attitude and a vision of growth and support for the district.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
