General Maintenance Worker Join the Union Elementary School District Team! Union Elementary School District is looking for a dependable, hands-on General Maintenance Worker to help keep our schools and facilities safe, functional, and welcoming for students, staff, and our community. What You'll Do As a General Maintenance Worker, no two days will look exactly the same. You'll work throughout District facilities and grounds to complete maintenance, repairs, installations, and improvement projects. Your responsibilities may include:
• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, mechanical, and electrical work.
• Assist with the installation and repair of facility equipment and building components.
• Maintain District grounds, playgrounds, athletic fields, lawns, landscaping, and outdoor areas.
• Repair furniture, equipment, fixtures, and other building components.
• Assist other maintenance team members with projects and work orders.
• Set up and move furniture and equipment for school and District events.
• Transport tools, equipment, supplies, and materials to job sites.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and District vehicles in safe working condition.
• Monitor and maintain needed maintenance and facility supplies.
• Complete basic maintenance records, work-order updates, and activity logs.
• Respond to urgent maintenance or safety concerns as needed.
• Work collaboratively with District staff and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and comfortable taking on a variety of projects. Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Job-related maintenance experience.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and repair practices.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt when maintenance needs change.
• Commitment to following established safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required District background/fingerprint clearance.
Experience in multiple maintenance areas such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, landscaping, mechanical repair, or general facilities maintenance is a plus. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position. Employees must be able to perform the physical functions necessary to complete maintenance work, including:
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials and equipment.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Climbing and balancing.
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Safely operating hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment.
• Working indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
