Title: Health Clinic Aide Reports To: Principal/Health Care Coordinator Employment Status: Regular, Full-Time FLSA Status: Non-exempt Paygrade: 62 Position Summary: Provides basic first aid and student health assistance within the scope of training and district procedures; supports medication administration and health screenings; maintains accurate, confidential health records; communicates health-related information to authorized personnel and families; and helps maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped school clinic. Essential Functions:
• Provide basic first aid and routine health assistance to students and staff within the scope of training, district procedures, and assigned responsibilities.
• Respond appropriately to student illness, injury, and health concerns and promptly notify the building administrator, school nurse, parents or guardians, emergency services, or other authorized personnel as required.
• Administer, assist with, and document student medications only as authorized and in accordance with applicable requirements, district policies, physician or healthcare-provider instructions, parent or guardian authorizations, and student health plans.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of medication administration, clinic visits, health services, screenings, communications, incidents, and follow-up actions.
• Observe students for signs or symptoms of illness or injury and follow district procedures for health assessments, exclusion, referral, notification, and return to school.
• Support the implementation of individual healthcare plans, emergency action plans, IEP-related health supports, and other approved student health plans.
• Assist with student personal-care and health-related needs, including care for students with disabilities, in accordance with the student's plan, training, and district procedures.
• Assist with district hearing, vision, and other health screenings as assigned and trained.
• Notify authorized school personnel of relevant health alerts, emergency health plans, changes in student health needs, and other time-sensitive information while protecting confidentiality.
• Maintain adequate supplies, equipment, forms, and emergency materials in the clinic; monitor inventory and report replenishment needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming clinic environment and follow infection-control, exposure-control, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with students, families, school staff, healthcare providers, and community partners, as authorized.
• Provide clerical and general office support to the school clinic and office when health-office responsibilities permit.
• Use sound judgment, tact, discretion, and professionalism when responding to sensitive health, family, and student matters.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attend required training and maintain current certifications or credentials required for the position, such as first aid, CPR, or other district-designated training.
• Follow all district health, safety, emergency, infection-control, security, confidentiality, and student-support procedures.
• Maintain a professional appearance consistent with district policy and the responsibilities of the position.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or Health Care Coordinator.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical aide, health aide, emergency medical technician, nursing assistant, first aid, CPR, or other relevant healthcare training preferred, as applicable to the position.
• Experience working with children or adolescents preferred.
• Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications.
• Ability to meet all applicable state, district, and position-specific employment requirements.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered if deemed appropriate by the Superintendent and/or Board of Education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, student health practices, infection prevention, and emergency-response procedures, or the ability to acquire this knowledge through required training.
• Ability to follow medication-administration procedures, student health plans, emergency action plans, and written instructions accurately and consistently.
• Ability to recognize and promptly report signs of illness, injury, distress, or changing health needs without exceeding the scope of training or assigned authority.
• Ability to maintain accurate, timely, organized, and confidential health and administrative records.
• Ability to communicate clearly, calmly, respectfully, and professionally with students, families, staff, healthcare providers, and emergency personnel.
• Ability to work cooperatively with school administrators, school nurses, teachers, special education personnel, counselors, office staff, and other support personnel.
• Effective active-listening, observation, organization, prioritization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during emergencies, stressful situations, and interactions involving sensitive health information.
• Ability to use computers, student-information systems, electronic health or medication records, communication systems, and other district-approved technology.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow applicable district policies, procedures, and professional expectations.

• Computers, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, and telephones.
• Vision-screening equipment.

• Emergency-response equipment.
• Medical and adaptive equipment used in accordance with training and assignment.
• Other district-approved office and clinic equipment.
Working Conditions:
• Frequent exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues, communicable illnesses, and other materials encountered in a school health setting; required personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be used as directed.
• Frequent interaction with students who may be ill, injured, distressed, anxious, upset, or in need of personal-care or health-related support.
• Occasional interaction with parents, guardians, staff, or community members who may be upset, distressed, or confrontational.
• Occasional travel between school buildings and attendance at training sessions, workshops, or other district activities.
• Occasional travel or operation of a district vehicle in varying weather conditions, if required by the position.
• Possible work outside the regular school day, including occasional evening or summer responsibilities, when scheduled and assigned by the district.
• Regular use of vision, hearing, speech, and manual dexterity to observe students, communicate, read records, operate equipment, enter data, and respond to health-related needs.
• Regular periods of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and moving throughout the clinic or school building.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull supplies, equipment, or other materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Conditions of Employment:
• Length of Employment: One-Year Limited Contract.
• Salary: Based on the current classified salary schedule with appropriate experience and training.
