Job SummaryAbout the Position: This position serves as a Supervisory Medical Records Technician in a Medical Treatment Facility Responsible for the supervision of assigned employees, the management and retirement of medical records, as well as the day-to-day management at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes any two or more of the following: 1) monitor the work assignments of other employees 2) review patient files to ensure medical records are compliant with regulations 3) utilize automated data systems to manage patient data, and 4) document using the terminal digit system for medical records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Major DutiesDirects and supervises assigned employees.Assigns work to subordinates.Coordinates and conducts quarterly clinic visits to train front desk functions, medical records storage, and retirement.Provides advice and assistance to higher level staff on medical record requirements and standards to ensure compliance.Ensures that the administration, maintenance, retirement, and disposal of outpatient records meet all requirements.Ensures that patient confidentiality is protected during the movement of records.Evaluates medical record program, ROI requests and distribution of assignments for overall efficiency and effectiveness.Establishes, implements, and monitors quality assurance systems and procedures in relation to all records, admission processes, contracting and incoming/outgoing official mail
