Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to supervise the common railroad maintenance vehicle operator duties to include performing work leader and task direction duties for a small crew or assigned shift of railroad maintenance vehicle operators and track workers. Communicate daily work instructions from supervisors to crew members, demonstrate standard equipment operating methods, monitor tasks in progress for proper execution and safety compliance, ensure tools and materials are available, and report operational delays or personnel issues to the supervisor. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Major DutiesPlan distribution prescribing deadlines and sequence of work on a day-to-day or project-to-project basis for subordinates.Explain work requirements, methods, procedures, specific hazards, and safety precautions to personnel.Develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and make formal and informal performance appraisals.Operate various railroad maintenance equipment, such as tie tamper, tie inserter, railroad track liner, on and off-track railway crane, mobile spiking machine, ballast regulator, and spike puller.Ensure all personnel follow established safety rules and regulations.
