Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator (Material Handler) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator (Materials Handler) duties. I can 1) operate standard forklifts and towing equipment, 2) perform basic operator checks like topping off fluids and/or checking tire pressure, and 3) assist with inventory documentation. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Mobile Equipment Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Efforts: The incumbent will perform work on hard surfaces in situations that require standing, stooping, climbing, bending, walking, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent is subject to strain caused by vibrations of the equipment and from jerking and jolting motions while lifting and moving loads. Incumbent will lift and carry parts, equipment, and items weighing up to 75 pounds. Considerable eye, hand and foot coordination is required. Working Conditions: The incumbent will normally work outside, sometimes in inclement weather. Work areas may be dirty and noisy. Fumes may be present from vehicles. There may be exposure to dirt, dust, paint, and grease. Subject to cuts, bruises, burns, shock, and strains. May be required to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations.

Major DutiesOperates heavy mobile wheel and track equipment, including forklifts rated up to 50,000 pounds.Inspects incoming heavy mobile equipment for damage and environmental hazards.Verifies shipping manifests and accountability documents for incoming cargo.Performs operator-level maintenance, including lubrication and fluid level checks.Conducts scheduled monthly, semi-annual, and annual preventive maintenance inspections.Logs all maintenance findings, equipment faults, and completed service actions.Loads and unloads materials from commercial and military transport carriers.Stacks and organizes equipment and supplies in designated warehouse or yard spaces.Conducts physical vehicle inventories to maintain property accountability.Tests vehicle safety systems, including brakes, emergency signals, and tire pressure.
