Job SummaryAbout the Position: The purpose of this position is to serve as the Lead Human Resources Technician (OA) responsible for directing and guiding 3 - 5 Human Resources Technicians in GS-203-05 or military equivalent.Incumbent of this position provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the Processing Element of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Entering data in automated system(s) to record applicant processing information; 2) Contacting applicants to acquire or verify critical personnel data; 3) Maintaining electronic or paper records in an automated system; AND 4) Providing personnel related guidance to staff members or applicants. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major DutiesNotify military applicants of required procedures for their assigned branch of service.Interview military applicants to gather and verify data for service entry.Obtain military applicants' fingerprints to initiate a background investigation.Manages the preparation of enlistment and re-enlistment packets for military service members.Conduct quality control of applicant processing packets to mitigate administrative discrepancies.Resolve conflicts that may arise among team members.Distribute workload among employees to ensure timely completion.Provide technical guidance and training to subordinate staff within command.
