Job SummaryThis position supports the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department at Northern Navajo Medical Center in Shiprock, New Mexico. The purpose of the position is to manage surgical and sterile processing supplies, maintain inventory, track equipment, process supply requests, maintain records, and perform administrative duties. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-05: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level or 4 years above high school. GS-07: One (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level. Specialized Experience --Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements. GS-05: Provides administrative and supply support for Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department operations, including ordering and tracking supplies and equipment, reviewing requisitions, monitoring deliveries, assisting with urgent supply requests, and communicating with vendors and staff to support daily inventory needs. GS-07: Provides inventory, procurement, receiving, and property management support for Perioperative and Sterile Processing Department operations. Processes requisitions, Purchase Orders, Blanket Purchase Agreements, and UFMS receipts; verifies deliveries, quantities, pricing, funding, and documentation; maintains inventory records and resolves discrepancies. Coordinates with Finance, Acquisition, Property, vendors, and Operating Room staff to address receiving issues, expedite orders, maintain accurate records, and support timely payment and compliance with established policies and procedures. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Major DutiesManages purchasing, ordering, receiving, and inventory of Perioperative and Sterile Processing Department supplies, instruments, and equipment; resolves discrepancies, undelivered orders, and payment issues with vendors and internal departments. Maintains inventory, property, and financial records; updates inventory systems, conducts physical inventories, reconciles discrepancies, processes requisitions, and supports accurate reporting and property management. Initiates and certifies receiving reports in the automated computer system, ensuring compliance with contracts, policies, laws, and regulations, and submits documentation to Finance for prompt payment. Reviews requisitions and supporting documents, prioritizes supply needs, tracks order status, and expedites urgent deliveries by coordinating with vendors, manufacturers, and inventory control points. Serves as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries regarding supplies, inventory, and equipment; obtains quotes, statements of work, and other purchasing information while coordinating supply and inventory needs.RequirementsSelectee may be subject to a probationary period ESEP appointees typically serve a two year trial period U.S. Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 May be required to work beyond the normal tour of duty to complete assignments/projects and will be compensated according to regulations. Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability. Applicants are strongly encouraged to prioritize this requirement and to maintain regular communication with their assigned Personnel Security Specialist throughout the process. Financial Suitability Requirement: This position requires a review of the applicant's financial history as part of the personnel security and suitability determination.
