QualificationsBasic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. OR Specialized Experience: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment; Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements; Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements; Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders; Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met; Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. AND To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience must include the following: Coordinating ordering and distributing hazardous materials, maintaining Safety Data Sheet files, and applying technical knowledge of environmental support programs. Reviewing procurement requests for Hazardous Materials to ensure that procurements comply with Hazardous Materials Management, Minimization programs and goals. Producing messages, memorandum, letters, and reports expressing thoughts in a clear and concise manner to interact with personnel at all levels. Utilizing of various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR, LL.B. or J.D., if related NOTE: Education can be substituted for experience at this grade level. To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Major DutiesYou will serve as a Equipment Specialist and be responsible for managing aviation ground support equipment contracting and arranging maintenance services, ordering and disposing of equipment, evaluating unit equipment needs, and providing technical guidance. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Maintains readiness of aircraft maintenance, service, and support equipment. Applies knowledge of an array of laws and rules (National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Safe Drinking Water Act, etc.) to meet local, state and federal regulations. Identifies information needs, gathers and organizes data, assesses its importance and accuracy, and communicates findings using various methods. Verifies stock levels and manage equipment quarterly and annual fiscal year budget. Organizes work, sets priorities, allocates resources, coordinates with others, and monitors progress to achieve goals.
