Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE MECHANIC ~ without more than normal supervision.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. WG-10: Without more than normal supervision, I have performed the duties of a Maintenance Worker such as carpentry, repairing irrigation systems, and plumbing repairs. I have full level skills in operating all associated tools and equipment related to the sub journeyman level skills. I have experience operating and maintaining forklifts, backhoes, and tractor-trailers. I have performed daily operation checks of this equipment. Failure to meet these Screen out Elements will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding and platforms. Works in hard to reach places. Required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts up to 40 pounds. Heavy physical effort is used when operating equipment in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibrations of the equipment and the jerking and jolting from operating over rough surfaces. Because of the location of some of the controls and attachments, the operator is frequently required to work in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: Maintenance work is done inside and outside and is dirty, dusty, and greasy. Work is performed in bad weather and in noisy areas. The worker is exposed to possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, burns, cuts, and bruises. Equipment is operated in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat or platform, on hills, slopes, grades, steep, unstable or rocky grounds, rolling surfaces, and forests. The incumbent is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. Is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. Workboat operation occurs in all types of weather and in lake and river environments. Incumbent is exposed to extreme heat and cold, wet and icy conditions, high waves as well as operates in fog, work in strong current and shallow water and possible collision with floating or submerged obstructions.
Major DutiesInstall and/or make plumbing maintenance to toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, hydrants, valves, faucets, waterlines, water heaters, irrigation controllers, sprinkler heads, sewer lines, fixtures, pumps, etc.Operate mobile cranes and boom trucks up to 50 ton capacity.Constructs wooden forms of concrete.Utilizes electric and gas welding equipment to fabricate and/or repair equipment for the section.Performs a variety of landscaping and grounds maintenance work.Operate and maintain a variety of heavy engineering and construction equipment,Operate and maintain a variety of gasoline and diesel powered motor vehicles,Operate motorboats up to 26 feet in length.
