Wood is currently seeking a Senior Piping Designer to be responsible for delivering the piping design scope across assigned projects and work scopes. The successful candidate will coordinate and complete design engineering activities while ensuring compliance with HSSE requirements, quality standards, project schedules, and budget objectives. This role is accountable for maintaining technical excellence and ensuring the successful execution of all assigned engineering deliverables.

The Piping Designer will normally be assigned to Project in any one of the following positions based on relevant experience

a) Piping Designer

b) Area Piping Designer

For the assigned Project, duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Design Engineering & Technical Delivery

• Provide technical engineering support and assurance for assigned piping design scopes. • Support the Area Piping Engineer and Lead Designer in delivering quality engineering outcomes in accordance with project requirements and schedules. • Assist with the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of piping design standards, procedures, and engineering practices. • Promote and implement safe-by-design principles throughout all engineering activities. • Identify and drive opportunities for innovation, efficiency improvements, and best practice design solutions. • Participate in the development and execution of piping design deliverables as required. Piping Design Activities • Execute assigned piping design and drafting activities in accordance with project procedures, quality standards, technical work practices, and schedule requirements. • Maintain regular communication with the Area Piping Engineer regarding design progress, issues, and deliverable status. • Ensure effective coordination and information flow within multidisciplinary project teams. • Develop plot plans, equipment layouts, and piping layouts in accordance with established engineering standards and project requirements. • Prepare 2D Piping General Arrangement (GA) drawings and associated design documentation. • Conduct site surveys and field investigations to support the development of piping layouts, tie-in packages, and brownfield modification designs. • Develop and maintain detailed 3D plant models using approved design software. • Prepare isometric sketches for stress-critical piping systems and collaborate with Stress Engineers to support stress analysis activities. • Produce preliminary and intermediate material take-offs (MTOs), update material management systems, and coordinate material requirements with relevant stakeholders. • Model piping supports, both physical and logical, in accordance with stress analysis recommendations and project standards. • Provide piping-related input to Civil and Structural disciplines to support integrated design development. • Identify, resolve, and coordinate clashes within piping designs and across other engineering disciplines. • Review and comment on drawings and specifications from other disciplines that may impact piping systems. • Update and maintain 3D models based on internal reviews, client comments, vendor data, and isometric checking feedback, ensuring clash-free design integrity. • Provide feedback to Area Piping Engineers and Lead Designers regarding design challenges, standard methodologies, and improvement opportunities. • Maintain project documentation, drawing registers, model progress trackers, and isometric control databases. Discipline & Business Support Activities • Support proposal preparation, tender submissions, and presentations to prospective clients when required. • Participate in technical investigations and prepare technical reports as necessary. • Contribute to departmental initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and knowledge-sharing activities. • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Piping Discipline Manager.

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 2 to 10 years experience in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Power Plants / Pharmaceutical / LNG / Oil & Gas projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Through knowledge of Equipment layout Development, Piping layout design for all types of equipment such as Vessels, Exchangers, Tanks, Pumps, Compressors, Heaters, Columns, Reactors, Package Items etc. and Piping MTO. • Familiar and hands on experience with design and drafting tools like SP3D / E3D, Navisworks, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MS Office Applications etc. • Experience is Pharma projects preferred
