Moylough Concrete Products Ltd is a manufacturer of precast concrete elements. We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Welder Fabricator to join our engineering and production team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, modifying, and maintaining heavy-duty steel moulds, structural reinforcement cages, and factory production machinery essential to our precast manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities: - Mould Fabrication & Modification: Fabricate, assemble, and modify heavy structural steel moulds and shutters used for casting precast concrete products according to strict engineering drawings. - Welding Operations: Perform high-quality MIG welding on heavy-gauge carbon steel, structural sections, and plates and operate industrial fabrication machinery - Structural Layout: Read, interpret, and work accurately from structural engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols. - Quality & Tolerance Checks: Conduct precision measurements using callipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure all fabricated steel items meet exact design tolerances (+/- 1mm to 2mm). - Plant Maintenance Support: Assist the maintenance team in structural repairs of heavy factory plant equipment, including batching plants, conveyors, and casting beds. - Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to Irish Health and Safety regulations (HSA), maintaining a clean, hazard-free workshop environment and utilizing appropriate PPE at all times. Required Qualifications & Skills: - Education/Certification: Relevant trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Welding Technology, or equivalent apprenticeship. Current welding certifications are highly desirable. - Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of proven experience in heavy structural steel fabrication or a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (precast concrete sector experience is a distinct advantage). - Technical Knowledge: Proficient in multiple welding disciplines (MIG/MMA) with a deep understanding of steel expansion, distortion control, and joint preparation. - Blueprint Reading: Strong capability to interpret complex industrial engineering drawings independently.
