About this role

Donegal Centre for Independent Living (DCIL) is currently recruiting a Personal Assistant (PA) for our leaders within the Letterkenny area. Hours of work are variable and will depend on emergency service requirements, including the need to cover sickness absence and annual leave. Shifts may be offered on an ad-hoc basis, with no guarantee of a minimum number of hours. Our operations are based on the social model of disability, which emphasises that people with disabilities should not be defined by their impairments, but rather by the barrier’s society places in their way. ​ The role Working to the agenda of the 'Leader', a Personal Assistant (PA) enables the person with the disability to make their own decisions and be in control of their own life. A PA undertakes a variety of tasks under the direction of the Leader, ranging from personal care, educational, workplace, family & social supports to household assistance etc.​ Benefits of the role Worklife Balance. QQI modules in Care Skills and Care of the Older Person (or be willing to complete these while working with us). Full, clean driving licence. Experience of providing personal care is desirable.
