*About the Role*
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented *Accountant* to join our Finance team. This position will have a strong focus on *Accounts Receivable, customer payments and deductions, commissions, royalties, inventory accounting, and month-end financial reporting*.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and comfortable working with large volumes of transactions. Strong *Sage 300* and *Excel* skills are essential, along with the ability to investigate discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and ensure financial information is accurate and up to date. *CPG experience preferred.*
*Key Responsibilities*
*Accounts Receivable*
* Record and apply customer payments accurately and on a timely basis. * Reconcile customer accounts and investigate outstanding balances. * Review and reconcile customer deductions, including promotional deductions, pricing discrepancies, claims, and other customer-related deductions. * Follow up on discrepancies and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is obtained. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account records. * Assist with AR aging analysis and collection-related reporting.
*Commissions & Royalties*
* Prepare monthly sales commission reports and calculations. * Reconcile commission reports to sales and accounting records. * Prepare and process royalty calculations and related entries. * Investigate and resolve discrepancies in commission and royalty calculations.
*Inventory & Accounting*
* Prepare and post inventory-related journal entries. * Reconcile inventory accounts and investigate variances. * Assist with inventory costing and other inventory accounting requirements. * Ensure accounting records accurately reflect inventory transactions.
*Month-End & Financial Reporting*
* Assist with the monthly financial statement close process. * Prepare and post month-end journal entries and account reconciliations. * Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances. * Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports. * Ensure all month-end accounting activities are completed accurately and on schedule. * Support year-end audit and other financial reporting requirements as needed.
*Other Responsibilities*
* Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation. * Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting. * Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve accounting and customer-related issues. * Provide support for other accounting and finance projects as required.
*Qualifications & Requirements*
* *Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.* * *Sage 300 experience is preferred.* * *Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large data sets, reconciliations, formulas, PivotTables, and reporting.* * *Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable and general accounting principles.* * Experience with customer deductions and payment reconciliations is highly preferred. * Experience with commissions, royalties, and inventory accounting is an asset. * Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation. * CPA designation or CPA candidate is preferred. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other departments.
Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
