Abbotsford?s Parks division provides key services to the residents of our rapidly growing community. As the Parks Building and Structures Technician you will provide support to the Parks Operations division in skilled maintenance work in the use of mechanical and hand tools for routine maintenance and repair of the City?s Parks and Recreation facilities, buildings, structures, equipment, playgrounds, and parks. In this role you will bring considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in building and park maintenance and repair. You will direct and assist employees in performing a variety of building and parks maintenance tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, roofing and concrete-finishing work. Having basic knowledge of the building codes and other regulations pertaining to construction, maintenance and repair work along with sound judgement and leadership skills will make you an asset to the team. If you are a team-oriented individual with demonstrated experience in building and park maintenance and directing the work of others, we want to hear from you! Qualifications Required: Completion of Grade 12 Completion of Level 1 technical training or equivalent education in a building or mechanical trade from a recognized trades program, post-secondary institution or construction association. Three years? recent and related experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of infrastructure assets. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence Canadian Playground Safety Inspection Certification. This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $33.56 to $39.50.
