Building Official IIJob ID:J0926-0033Position Number:26-090eOrganization:City of Port Coquitlam Job Title:26-090e - Building Official II (Full-Time, Temporary - 18 Months)Job Type:Time stated Full TimeLocation:Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, CanadaFind out why our AMAZING employees love working for the City of Port Coquitlam!Affectionately known as ?PoCo?, we are an award-winning values-based organization made up of a diverse and dedicated team of people who care deeply about the community they serve.This is regulatory and enforcement work of a technical nature as described under the Building Act for a Level II Building Official involving plan reviewing, monitoring and inspection for buildings and structures to ensure compliance with applicable Acts, codes, standards, bylaws and regulations.An incumbent of this class provides technical information and assistance to property owners, contractors, engineers, architects and other municipal staff on matters related to the work.Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in the technical aspects of the work while unusual problems or policy matters are discussed with a supervisor who reviews work in terms of the effectiveness of services rendered and conformance to established practices and standards.Some of the key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Reviews plans and other documentation accompanying applications for permits to construct, or alter buildings and structures to ensure compliance with applicable codes, Acts, by-laws, standards and regulations. Monitors and inspects buildings and structures at various stages of completion to ensure compliance with applicable codes. Acts, by-laws, standards and regulations. Coordinates the processing of applications through relent City departments. Compiles documentation, recommends and issues a variety of permits. Reviews and evaluates reports submitted by designers or registered professionals. Determines compliance for existing buildings being altered, added to or having a change of use. Provides technical assistance, advice, interpretation and information to property owners, contractors, engineers, architects and other municipal staff on matters related to the work. Prepares and presents evidence in court as requiredThe successful candidate for this position will have: Graduation from a post-secondary institution with a diploma in Building Technology or possession of a trade certificate in carpentry issued under the Inter-provincial Red Seal program One year experience as a Building Official I Driver?s Licence for the Province of British Columbia - Class 5 Registered member of the Building Officials Association of BC as a Level II Building Official as per the Building ActWhy should you consider working for us?
