About this role

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Noisy. Dusty. Hot. Work setting: Shop fabrication. Sheet metal fabrication shop. Metal products manufacturing company. Tasks: Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications. Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other materials from surfaces of metal products. Clean machines and immediate work areas. Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools. Read and interpret work orders. Welding techniques: Gas metal ARC (GMAW) (MIG). Equipment and machinery experience: Lifting device. Hand tools. Dolly. Specialization or experience: Custom sheet metal items. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Public transportation is available. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Tight deadlines. Repetitive tasks. Large workload. Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
