About this role
The primary function of this role is to provide general clerical, secretarial, and administrative support for the department of Communication and the department of History, Politics, & Philosophy. This is a 10 month/year, 32 hour/week position (August 1 – May 31).
Essential Job Functions: Perform administrative assistant duties that include:
• Routine support of department chairs and faculty (full-time & adjunct)
• Process student timesheets and serve as Kronos supervisor for student workers
• Manage invoices for TravelBank (Visa) sign-offs
• Collect Visa receipts, scan, assign budget code and business purpose to purchasing card reports
• Create journal entries for needed budgetary transfers and manage purchase order requests
• Arrange departmental meetings and reserve meeting space
• Manage the use of the Hooper Conference Room
• Support the course offering scheduling process
• Support departmental events such as lectures, faculty interview processes, dinners for students (especially at commencement time), order student awards, support new student orientations (NSO), etc.
• Assist with events hosted by the Tennessee High School Press Association
• Manage daily duties such as answering phone calls, mail pick-up and distribution supporting student needs related to the departments, etc.
• Participate as a team player for college level initiatives such as Giving Day
• Support campus-wide initiatives including activities related to the strategic plan, Lipscomb Rising 2030
• Align with and affirm the elements of Lipscomb University's core values, Centering Core, and Heritage statements
Experience & Attributes
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point desired
