About this role
Job Purpose:
The Senior Inventory Accountant is responsible for inventory reconciliation, analysis, and reporting across Neumayer’s warehouses and service trucks. Reporting to the CFO, this role partners with accounting and operations to maintain accurate inventory records, strengthen controls, and support sound financial and operational decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inventory Accounting & Controls
• Maintain accurate inventory records across all warehouses and service trucks.
• Assist with scheduling and performing cycle counts, reviewing results, and reconciling discrepancies.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, trace transaction activity, and communicate findings and recommended corrective actions.
• Check inventory receipts, transfers, usage, and other transactions for accuracy.
• Prepare and record inventory adjustments in accordance with established controls.
• Support external audits by preparing inventory documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Inventory Planning & Analysis
• Analyze inventory levels and movement trends to support service needs and recommend ways to manage inventory investment.
• Analyze inventory valuation and excess, obsolete, or slow-moving stock, and provide reporting and recommendations on reserves.
• Review stocking levels, stock pull reports, and replenishment activity; recommend opportunities to use existing inventory before new purchases.
• Report on inventory accuracy, discrepancy resolution, movement, and investment.
• Partner with accounting and operational teams to strengthen inventory controls and improve processes, documentation, and system use.
Pricing & Operational Support
• Maintain manufacturer pricing in ERP and quoting systems, ensuring updates are accurate and consistent.
• Track inventory requirements related to jobs and sales orders.
• Process warranty-related inventory transactions and maintain supporting records.
What We’re Looking For
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Willingness to learn accounting systems, reporting tools, and inventory processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, an investigative mindset, and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Clear communication, organization, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work across teams.
Preferred
• Relevant inventory, accounting, or finance experience, including transaction research, reconciliations, valuation, or reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting, ERP, or reporting systems.
• Experience in a service, distribution, or multi-location inventory environment, including service truck stock.
• Experience maintaining pricing data and processing manufacturer price updates.
• Experience improving accounting or inventory processes, reporting, or system use.
