Job Summary: Our client, a growing energy services company, is seeking a Commercial Contracts Attorney to join its legal team in Houston. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys partnering with the business, managing complex commercial agreements, and helping strengthen contract and risk-management processes within a growing organization.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will serve as a key advisor on commercial contracting matters, working closely with senior leadership and operational stakeholders across multiple business units. This role offers significant visibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to play a meaningful role in enhancing the organization's contracts and risk management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements. • Support customer-facing and revenue-generating contracts, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and related commercial agreements. • Review vendor, subcontractor, and operational agreements. • Identify and advise on commercial and contractual risks. • Partner with business stakeholders to provide practical, business-focused guidance. • Develop and improve contracting processes, templates, and workflows. • Support multiple business units on a variety of legal and risk-management matters. • Help establish greater consistency and discipline around contract management and risk assessment.
Qualifications
• JD and active bar license • 8+ years of commercial contracts experience. • Strong experience negotiating and managing customer, vendor, subcontractor, MSA, NDA, and SOW agreements. • Excellent understanding of contractual risk allocation and mitigation. • Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities. • Strong business judgment and stakeholder management skills. • Experience in energy, industrial, construction, engineering, or related industries preferred
