Job Title: General Production Worker (1st Shift)Job DescriptionThis entry-level general production role supports multiple functions within a meat-processing facility. You will perform a variety of general labor tasks, maintain a clean and sanitary production environment, and follow all food safety and quality procedures. This position requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP regulations, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting on the first shift.Responsibilities
• Follow all policies and procedures related to meat processing, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations. • Maintain all production areas in clean and sanitary condition throughout the shift. • Identify and report any issues that may lead to unsanitary conditions in a timely manner to the appropriate supervisor. • Remove product and packing materials from the floor to keep work areas clean and safe. • Properly dispose of and track inedible products according to company procedures. • Separate and remove trash and recycling from production areas. • Stage production areas with empty containers and supplies in preparation for the following shift. • Assist with preparing and disassembling meat-processing equipment for production and sanitation activities. • Assist with the collection, opening, and reuse of rework materials, ensuring proper identification of product and line to prevent cross-contamination and allergen issues. • Assist in relieving co-workers for breaks, including temporarily working in other positions as needed. • Accurately complete all assigned paperwork and documentation. • Assist in training new employees accurately and thoroughly on job duties and procedures. • Before leaving at the end of the shift, check in with the area supervisor for any additional pass-down or shutdown activities that need to be completed. • Visually inspect cases to ensure labels and code dates are present, clear, and legible. • Make basic adjustments to machinery to support smooth production, including changing tape, code dates, ink, paper, film, cardboard, or pallets. • Operate a manual hand jack as needed to move materials and products. • Communicate all equipment malfunctions promptly so they can be addressed quickly. • Prepare supplies and workstations so the next shift can begin work efficiently. • Stage ingredients in 50 lb containers to maintain consistent product flow. • Arrange meat as instructed and according to product specifications. • Continuously comb, hang, transport, and stack product as required by production needs. • Inspect product on conveyor belts to ensure it meets quality specifications. • Perform all job duties accurately, efficiently, and safely while meeting production expectations. • Stand and walk for the entire shift while maintaining focus and attention to detail. • Lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs as part of regular job tasks. • Use both hands and a full range of motion to complete tasks such as handling product, operating equipment, and cleaning. • Experience in production, general labor, or general manufacturing roles. • food manufacturing, food production, packing, or cold storage environments. • Experience with meat, meat cutting, or cold food handling. • Previous experience in roles such as line cook or food prep. • Familiarity with high-volume production lines and quality inspection. • Comfort working around moving mechanical parts and at heights when required. You will regularly work around moving mechanical parts and may occasionally work in high or elevated areas. The production floor includes both colder areas, around 30 degrees, and warmer temperature zones, and you should be comfortable moving between these conditions. The noise level is typically high, and appropriate hearing protection and safety equipment are provided as required. The position is physically demanding and requires standing and walking throughout the entire shift, frequent use of hands and fingers to handle products and equipment, and regular reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. You will regularly lift and carry at least 50 lbs and use both hands to perform tasks safely and efficiently. The role may require weekend work and overtime to meet production demands, and you will work on the first shift in a structured, fast-paced production setting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
