About this role

Job Title: Environmental Field TechnicianJob DescriptionSeeking an Environmental Field Technician for the Phoenix, AZ area. This role is essential to the Operations, Monitoring, & Maintenance (OM&M) group, providing hands-on practical experience in monitoring and maintaining Gas Collection & Control Systems (GCCS) on project sites. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain both operational and regulatory experience within the solid waste industry. Responsibilities • Ensure all regulatory objectives and due dates are met, including proper collection and documentation of environmental data. • Operate and maintain Gas Collection & Control Systems (GCCS), performing routine and non-routine maintenance on GCCS components to ensure or restore proper operation and compliance. • Monitor and analyze landfill gas (LFG) and liquids, and maintain the liquids conveyance & extraction systems within the GCCS. • Employ critical thinking and proactive problem-solving to address complex GCCS issues. • Travel to job sites daily, with site locations varying based on need. Occasionally travel out of state or long distances may be required. • Assist in routine and non-routine tasks involving operation and maintenance of GCCS activities, including data collection, repairs, maintenance, and construction activities. • Perform maintenance on pneumatic pumps, airlines, and force mains. • Troubleshoot GCCS infrastructure and liquids extraction issues. • Keep and maintain field logs via phone app and other provided means. • Care for issued tools and equipment, ensuring they remain in good condition. Essential Skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). • Ability to keep and maintain field logs. • Responsiveness to GCCS call-out devices 24/7, including holidays and weekends. • Capability to walk long distances, traverse steeply sloped landfills and outdoor terrain. • Work safely in all seasonal weather conditions, including both hot and cold. • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a non-consistent basis. • Pass a company-paid baseline health physical and drug screening. • Maintain a valid driver's license and drive to job sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Minimum High School Diploma and at least one year of general working experience. • Complete the OSHA HAZWOPER, 40-hour, environmental health and safety class, and annual 8-hour refresher classes. • Develop a good working knowledge of environmental monitoring equipment, such as flame-ionization detectors, photo-ionization detectors, explosive gas detectors, water level detectors, PH/temperature/conductivity meters. • Learn general gas, soil, and air sampling techniques, including applicable environmental and health & safety regulations. • Familiarity with operation and maintenance techniques for landfill gas and landfill fluids collection systems. • Ability to fill out professional business documents (letters, reports, memoranda, etc.). Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
