Job Title: Mechanical Installation TechnicianJob DescriptionAs a Mechanical Installation Technician, you assemble and install multiple conveyor lines and mezzanine structures within a large distribution facility. You work in small, coordinated teams, using hand and power tools, lifts, and precision measurement to complete installations safely and efficiently in a heavy-duty industrial construction environment.Responsibilities
• Assemble and install multiple conveyor lines and related mechanical components within a large facility. • Install mezzanine structures and ensure all mechanical assemblies are aligned, secure, and meet project specifications. • Work collaboratively in small teams to plan tasks, coordinate activities, and complete installations on schedule. • Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform mechanical assembly, fastening, adjustment, and alignment work. • Operate scissor lifts and work at heights as required to install conveyors and mezzanine components safely. • Support forklift operations as needed, including moving materials and equipment, if appropriately licensed and assigned. • Follow construction site safety protocols at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment and tools. • Read and interpret basic measurements, levels, and layout marks to ensure precise installation of equipment. • Handle and organize tools, hardware, and materials to maintain an efficient and safe work area. • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to report progress, issues, and safety concerns. • Adapt to changing project needs, schedules, and work locations within the facility, including platforms and elevated work areas. • Use measuring devices, levels, and squares to verify accuracy and quality of mechanical installations. • Ensure all work complies with site rules and industry best practices for mechanical and construction activities. Essential Skills
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in conveyor installation, construction labor, millwright work, welding, or similar mechanical roles. • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in mechanical assembly and installation. • Extensive hands-on experience using hand and power tools in a construction or industrial environment. • Experience working in heavy-duty or industrial construction settings. • Comfort and experience working at heights, including on platforms and lifts. • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and contribute to a safe, cooperative work environment. • Demonstrated ability to work safely on active construction sites and follow all safety procedures. • Comfort working on a busy construction site within a large facility. • Experience with forklifts and aerial work platforms (such as boom lifts or scissor lifts) is a strong asset. • Ability to work with precision, including accurate measurement, leveling, and alignment. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• Mechanical inclination and prior experience with conveyors or similar mechanical systems. • Assembly experience in industrial or construction settings. • Forklift license is required for at least one in every three workers on the team. • Certification on scissor lifts is required for all workers before starting on site. • Experience operating aerial work platforms, including boom and scissor lifts, is considered an asset. • Comfort working in an industrial Amazon-type facility or similar large distribution environment. • Ability to bring and use a personal tool set that meets the minimum standard required for the job. The typical schedule runs from approximately 06:30 to 16:30, Monday to Saturday, with additional hours or changes as required and the potential to work up to about 60 hours per week, often in 5x 12-hour shifts. Work may take place on platforms and at heights, frequently using scissor lifts, and some team members will operate forklifts. You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times and adhere strictly to site safety rules. Workers are required to bring their own tools that meet the minimum standard, including: socket set (7/16” to ¾”), wrench set (7/16” to ¾”), screwdriver set, hammer, rubber mallet, 6” torpedo level, square, small pry bar, adjustable wrenches (10” and 12”), measuring tape (imperial), Allen key set, and drift. The environment is fast-paced, physically demanding, and focused on safe, precise mechanical installation. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Pitt Meadows, BC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
