Job Title: Maintenance TechnicianJob DescriptionThis role is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of production and manufacturing equipment within a climate‑controlled facility. The technician conducts routine inspections to ensure proper equipment function, performs preventative maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines, and promptly diagnoses and resolves mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime. Candidates must provide their own set of hand tools and be comfortable working in an environment with consistent exposure to heat, noise, gas, and chemicals, as well as meeting physical demands such as frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required based on operational needs.Responsibilities
• Install, repair, and maintain production and manufacturing equipment to ensure reliable and efficient operation. • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and internal procedures. • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and perform timely repairs or adjustments to reduce equipment downtime. • Troubleshoot PLC and automation systems, including Allen‑Bradley PLCs, to identify and resolve control system problems. • Perform electrical installation and setup of frequency drives, including variable frequency drives (VFDs), and carry out electrical troubleshooting. • Maintain and repair conveyor systems, including air cylinders, diverters, sensors, and motor/speed controls. • Service compressor and ammonia‑based refrigeration systems as needed to support production operations. • Rebuild and maintain gearing and gearboxes, including ordering and replacing parts to keep equipment in optimal condition. • Work with hydraulic systems, including high‑pressure cylinders, pumps, and valves, and perform related troubleshooting. • Apply kinematic principles, such as line speed and sprocket‑size ratios, to optimize equipment performance. • Support high‑speed packaging and production lines, such as bottling and consumer goods operations, by ensuring equipment uptime. • Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, including solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, and related components. • Service air compression systems, including valves, cylinders, and associated equipment. • Execute preventative maintenance processes using computerized PM systems and accurately track maintenance data. • Maintain and repair pumps, including troubleshooting issues, replacing seals or motors, and interpreting equipment specifications. • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, starters, maps, and relay diagrams to guide installation and repair work. • Work with SERVO systems, including intelligent and robotic motors and encoders, to support automated equipment. • Perform welding and general mechanical maintenance repair tasks as required. • Collaborate effectively in a team‑based environment to coordinate maintenance activities and support production goals. • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working around heat, noise, gas, and chemicals. Essential Skills
• Strong experience as a maintenance technician in industrial or manufacturing environments. • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. • Hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, PLC programming, and PLC troubleshooting. • Knowledge of basic electrical systems, including starters, fuses, contacts, and relays. • Skilled in electrical installation, frequency drive setup, and electrical troubleshooting. • Experience working with compressor and ammonia‑based refrigeration systems. • Proficiency with conveyor systems, including air cylinders, diverters, sensors, and motor/speed controls. • Experience with electronic components such as level probes, flow meters, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). • Knowledge of gearing and gearboxes, including rebuilding and part replacement. • Experience working with hydraulic systems, including high‑pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, and related troubleshooting. • Understanding of kinematic principles, such as line speed and sprocket‑size ratios. • Experience in high‑speed packaging and production environments, such as bottling or consumer goods manufacturing. • Familiarity with industrial maintenance operations and computer‑controlled equipment. • Skilled in pneumatics, including solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, system reading, and troubleshooting. • Experience with air compression systems, including valves, cylinders, and related components. • Knowledge of preventative maintenance processes and use of computerized PM systems and data tracking. • Experience with pumps, including troubleshooting, seal or motor replacement, and reading equipment specifications. • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, starters, maps, and relay diagrams. • Experience with SERVO systems, including intelligent/robotic motors and encoders. • Strong troubleshooting ability, including diagnostics and root‑cause problem solving. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team‑based environments. • Ability to meet physical demands, including frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. • Ability to provide and effectively use a personal set of hand tools. You will work with industrial technologies and equipment such as PLC‑controlled systems, conveyors, compressors, refrigeration units, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, and SERVO‑driven machinery. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required to support continuous operations. Appropriate work attire is expected to align with a manufacturing and industrial maintenance setting, including any necessary protective gear as required by safety protocols. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.80 - $57.28/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
