Job Title: General Production WorkerJob DescriptionThis role involves working in a food production environment where you support daily operations by palletizing and shrink wrapping products, moving materials, and maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace. You will handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving product, operating a manual pallet jack, and recording product weights to ensure accurate inventory and quality control. Responsibilities • Palletize finished products and securely shrink wrap them for storage and shipment. • Clean and sanitize workstations regularly to maintain a safe and hygienic food production environment. • Move product and materials using a manual pallet jack throughout the production area and to the warehouse. • Weigh products on a small digital scale and accurately read and record digital weights. • Move filled bags that can weigh up to 50 pounds, following company policy that requires two employees to lift anything over 50 pounds. • Push and pull large bowls on wheels weighing up to 1,000 pounds and ensure you move at least eight bowls per shift. • Work on production and packaging lines as needed, including general labor, assembly, and food packaging tasks. • Follow all safety procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMPs), including proper use of personal protective equipment. • Maintain an organized and clutter-free work area to support efficient production and safe operations. • Participate in on-site orientation and follow all instructions and guidelines provided by supervisors and trainers. Essential Skills • Experience working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar general labor environment within the last 5 years. • At least 1 year of continuous employment with the same company within the last 5 years. • Ability to stand for 8 to 12 hours per shift in a physically demanding production environment. • Capability to lift and move bags weighing up to 50 pounds safely and consistently. • Ability to push and pull heavy equipment, including bowls on wheels weighing up to 1,000 pounds. • Comfort working in a food production or manufacturing setting with strict cleanliness and safety standards. • Attention to detail when reading and recording digital weights and following production instructions. • Willingness to follow all good manufacturing practices, including restrictions on tobacco, fragrances, jewelry, nail polish, and piercings. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in food production, food manufacturing, or packaging environments. • Background in machine operation or production line work. • Familiarity with general production, assembly, and packaging processes. • Ability to adapt to changing tasks and support different areas of production as needed. • Strong reliability and work ethic, demonstrated by stable prior employment. Work EnvironmentThe facility operates in a small-town, family-like setting with approximately 30 full-time employees, fostering a close and supportive team atmosphere. You will work in a food manufacturing environment that prioritizes safety and strict adherence to good manufacturing practices (GMPs). Temperatures can be warm, and in some manufacturing rooms it may reach up to 90 degrees in the summer, while conditions are comfortable in the winter. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, hair net, eye protection, jeans, shirt, bump cap, and lab coat. All clothing must be free of rips, tears, holes, or added embellishments. You must follow GMP-related rules such as no smoking or tobacco products on-site, no perfume or cologne, no fingernail polish, no jewelry of any kind, and no piercings while at work. Orientation takes place on-site and typically lasts 3 to 4 hours, and depending on your shift schedule, you may begin work the same day or at a later shift as communicated in advance. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albert Lea, MN. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
