About this role

Job Title: Fitter WelderJob DescriptionThis role focuses on welding and fitting heavy structural steel components used in buildings and construction projects. You will perform flux core and MIG welding, interpret blueprints, use quality tools, and collaborate closely with architects and experienced welders to produce high-quality, precise steel structures in a clean and organized facility.Responsibilities

• Perform flux core .045 and MIG welding on heavy structural steel components for building and construction applications. • Fit and fabricate steel parts according to detailed blueprints and project specifications. • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to determine material requirements, weld symbols, and fabrication details. • Use appropriate quality tools and measuring instruments to ensure accuracy, alignment, and structural integrity. • Work closely with architects to understand design requirements and incorporate their feedback into fabricated components. • Collaborate with experienced welders and fitters, participating in on-the-job training to continuously improve skills and techniques. • Handle and position heavy steel safely, ensuring proper setup of workpieces before welding or fitting. • Inspect completed welds and assemblies for defects, and perform necessary adjustments or repairs to meet quality standards. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following facility guidelines for safety, housekeeping, and equipment care. • Follow all safety procedures related to welding, cutting, lifting, and working around heavy steel and fabrication equipment. Essential Skills

• 3+ years of flux core or MIG welding experience, preferably in a structural steel environment. • 3+ years of structural steel experience, including fabrication and fitting of heavy steel components. • Proficiency in flux core welding, including .045 wire applications. • Strong MIG welding skills with structural steel materials. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols accurately. • Experience working with structural steel in building and construction projects. • Solid understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of welding equipment. • Ability to work effectively with heavy steel, including positioning, clamping, and preparing workpieces for welding. • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with TIG welding is a plus. • BG in stainless steel welding and fabrication is beneficial. • General fabrication experience, including cutting, grinding, and assembling steel components. • Fitting experience, including layout, measurement, and alignment of structural steel parts. • Previous work in clean, smaller fabrication or steel facilities is advantageous. • Familiarity with profit-sharing or performance-based environments is helpful. Team members use welding equipment for flux core and MIG processes, along with standard fabrication tools and quality measurement instruments. Work is available on first shift from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and second shift from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., providing options for different schedule preferences. The environment values safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflow, with an emphasis on maintaining an organized workspace suitable for precision welding and fitting. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
