Job Title: Structural Designer / DrafterJob DescriptionThis Structural Designer/Drafter role focuses on developing detailed structural drawings, models, and construction documents for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential building projects. Working under the direction of structural engineers and project leaders, you support project execution through drafting, modeling, detailing, and coordination activities that ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality deliverables. You collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to produce coordinated construction documents that meet project requirements, company standards, and established drafting procedures while contributing to successful project outcomes.Responsibilities

• Develop and revise structural drawings, models, plans, sections, details, schedules, and other construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other applicable software. • Assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of Building Information Models (BIM) and coordinate models with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines. • Interpret and incorporate engineering design information, calculations, sketches, markups, and redline comments into construction documents accurately and efficiently. • Review project scope, schedules, deliverables, and design requirements to understand assigned responsibilities and project objectives. • Participate in project kickoff meetings and coordination meetings to understand project requirements, milestones, and interdisciplinary coordination needs. • Maintain organized drawing files, project documentation, and drafting standards in accordance with company procedures. • Monitor assigned tasks and communicate progress, resource needs, schedule impacts, and potential issues to the assigned project lead. • Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and internal project team members to resolve drawing and model conflicts and ensure document accuracy. • Follow established quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures to help ensure the accuracy and completeness of project deliverables. • Maintain proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, BIM technologies, and applicable industry standards through ongoing training and professional development. • Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project team members. • Perform other drafting and design-related duties as assigned by Sr. structural engineering leadership. Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience preparing structural construction documents for commercial, industrial, institutional, or residential building projects. • Proficiency in AutoCAD for structural drafting and detailing. • Working knowledge of building construction practices, structural systems, and construction document development. • Ability to interpret engineering sketches, markups, calculations, and design information and accurately incorporate them into construction documents. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for project documentation and communication. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, coordinated drawings and models. • Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and project team members. • Ability to manage multiple tasks, monitor progress, and meet project schedules. • Willingness to follow established drafting procedures, standards, and QA/QC processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting and Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience using Revit for structural modeling and documentation; Revit proficiency is a strong plus. • Familiarity with BIM processes and coordination across multiple disciplines. • Interest in ongoing professional development and maintaining current knowledge of industry standards and software tools. • Motivation to grow into roles with greater responsibility, including potential leadership opportunities within the engineering department. • Ability to travel locally for site visits within a 2–3 hour radius once or twice a month and to travel overnight on the East Coast once or twice per quarter. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a newly renovated office located in Glen Burnie, offering an in-office setting with a flexible workday. The typical workload averages 80 hours every two weeks, with some variation depending on project needs. Team members use company-provided laptops and work with tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM technologies, and Microsoft Office in a collaborative, engineering-focused environment. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glen Burnie, MD. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.04 - $33.65/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
