Job Title: Structural CAD/BIM DesignerJob DescriptionThis hybrid Structural CAD/BIM Designer position based in the Detroit office supports the development of structural Revit models, BIM deliverables, and contract documents for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and designers, you will create detailed 3D structural models, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and assist in producing high-quality construction drawings. This role is ideal for a designer with 2–6 years of Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD experience who is eager to deepen structural design and detailing skills in a consulting environment. Responsibilities • Develop and maintain structural Revit and AutoCAD models for water and wastewater infrastructure facilities. • Produce detailed structural drawings, contract documents, and BIM deliverables in accordance with project standards and best practices. • Assist senior engineers and designers in creating accurate 3D models that reflect structural steel and reinforced concrete systems. • Coordinate models and drawings with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines to ensure consistency and clash-free designs. • Apply BIM standards, drafting best practices, and quality control procedures to all project documentation. • Support the preparation of construction drawings and specifications for large-scale municipal infrastructure projects. • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary project teams in a hybrid work setting to meet schedules and deliverables. • Use tools such as Bluebeam for drawing review, markups, and coordination activities. • Contribute to continuous improvement of CAD/BIM workflows and standards within the team. • Communicate effectively with team members, respond to feedback, and incorporate design changes accurately and efficiently. Essential Skills • 2–6 years of professional experience using Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD in a consulting engineering, architectural, structural, or construction environment. • Proficiency in structural drafting and 3D modeling using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. • Experience producing structural drawings and construction documents for infrastructure or building projects. • Understanding of structural steel and reinforced concrete systems and how they are represented in drawings and models. • Experience coordinating models and drawings with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines. • Familiarity with BIM standards and drafting best practices for structural projects. • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a hybrid, collaborative environment. • Solid teamwork skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to design and documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Design, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. • Experience working on water and wastewater facilities or municipal infrastructure projects. • Exposure to Autodesk Civil 3D for site and civil coordination is a plus. • Familiarity with Navisworks for model review and multidisciplinary coordination is a plus. • Experience using Bluebeam for document review and markup. • Interest in developing advanced structural design and detailing skills under the mentorship of senior engineers and designers. • Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and contribute to a collaborative, low-bureaucracy culture.
