HSE & Facilities Specialist About the Opportunity Our client is seeking an HSE & Facilities Specialist to support both environmental health and safety and facilities management within a manufacturing environment. This role is split approximately 50/50 between HSE and facilities responsibilities, with a slight emphasis on facilities operations.The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting facility operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, sustainability, and operational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental Management

• Provide guidance to managers and employees on safe work practices and conduct comprehensive workplace risk assessments. • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and company policies. • Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors. • Act as a primary point of contact for health, safety, and environmental matters across the site. • Respond to incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, coordinating corrective actions and follow-up activities. • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures. • Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports, and documentation. • Collaborate with leadership teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and strengthen the overall safety culture. Facilities Management

• Oversee day-to-day facility operations and maintenance activities. • Coordinate external contractors, service providers, and vendors to support facility requirements. • Conduct facility inspections and identify opportunities for improvement, maintenance, and operational efficiency. • Support office, production, and technical work areas to ensure safe and effective operations. • Assist with facility projects, repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance initiatives. • Monitor building systems and coordinate maintenance activities as required. Sustainability & Continuous Improvement

• Support the development and implementation of energy efficiency and waste reduction initiatives. • Promote environmental sustainability best practices throughout the organization. • Identify opportunities to improve facility performance, safety processes, and operational effectiveness. • Participate in continuous improvement projects across health, safety, environmental, and facilities functions. Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in health and safety, facilities management, or a combination of both within a manufacturing or industrial environment. • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices. • Experience conducting risk assessments, inspections, and incident investigations. • Hands-on experience coordinating facility maintenance activities, contractors, and vendors. • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. • Experience fostering a positive safety culture within an operational environment. Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing or technical environment. • Previous responsibility for both health and safety and facilities management functions. • Professional health and safety certification such as CRSP, NEBOSH, COR, or equivalent. • Familiarity with quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies. • Experience using health, safety, and environmental management software platforms. • Knowledge of sustainability initiatives, energy management, and waste reduction programs. • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and leadership groups. Work Environment This is a fully on-site position within a manufacturing and technical operations facility. The role involves regular interaction with production, office, and operational teams and requires a hands-on presence throughout the site. The successful candidate will work closely with employees, contractors, vendors, and leadership to support safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations while contributing to a positive and collaborative workplace culture. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burnaby, BC. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $45.67/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
